Wendy Rhea, owner/instructor

Wendy has owned and operated top-quality boarding facilities for over 14 years.  Former owner of Baywood Equestrian Center in Castro Valley, she relocated from the Bay Area in 1996 to build and open Quail Ridge Farm in Wilton, California.  Moving from the hectic life as owner of Baywood, a 36 stall show barn, she now appreciates the quiet life of a smaller more personalized country facility.

Wendy has always prided herself on offering the best care available for the equine residents at her facilities and she now can offer more personalized care in the smaller setting.  With the attitude that she treats every horse as if it were her own, horse owners can be assured of the attention to detail that they would provide themselves on a daily basis.  As many of the Quail Ridge Farm residents are retired, this attention gives owners peace of mind in knowing their senior equine companions are getting the same kind of care as they provided themselves when their horse was in the peak of their performance career.

Wendy also offers instruction for the beginning rider, both junior and adult, to the more experienced lower level dressage rider (through second level instruction).  From basic horse handling and care to competing at local shows and everything in between, Quail Ridge Farm offers instruction to meet your needs.  Wendy’s focus always includes stressing the safety of the rider through proper handling of the horse and position of the rider while maximizing the performance of the horse.  Her patience and focus on building confidence is especially helpful to those riders who have had bad experiences in the past or feel that they are not maximizing their potential due to fear issues.

Wendy started her riding career as a child riding hunter/jumpers and started eventing in her early adult years.  Now concentrating on dressage herself, she has been teaching since 1990.

Wendy is a member of the Association of Professional Trainers and Instructors and holds her Red Cross CPR and First Aid cards.  She is an active member of the California Dressage Society, having served as past secretary for the local Valley Oaks Chapter.  She also is a member of the US Dressage Federation and USEF.
